The Whale Dreaming story

Whale Dreaming: Our Journey Through Storytelling and Art

Our students have been immersed in the Whale Dreaming story, bringing it to life through dioramas and storyboards.

📦 Dioramas of Burri Burri’s Canoe
Here are some of the incredible dioramas the children created, inspired by the Whale Dreaming story. We hope you can spot Burri Burri’s canoe in these photos!

📚 Learning with Cultural Guidance
We’ve been using specially selected texts to supplement our lessons, which Uncle kindly reviewed for accuracy.

🎨 Art Gallery Showcase
The students’ work was proudly displayed at the Public Schools Arts Festival launch last Friday night. Auntie Jenny opened the event with a heartfelt Welcome to Country, setting the tone for a beautiful evening. The gallery was packed with parents, students, and community members from across the inner west, making it a memorable experience for all.

Auntie Jenny was thrilled to hear about Uncle Shayne teaching us the Burri Burri Whale Dreaming story and even mentioned us in her welcome speech—a proud moment for our school!

🌟 Lessons from the Story
Through this term’s studies, we’ve explored the characters and their teachings. Key lessons like the importance of sharing, avoiding greed, and treating others with honesty have resonated deeply with our students.

🎭 What’s Next?
As we wrap up our storytelling unit, we’re excited to begin rehearsing the dramatisation of Whale Dreaming.

We’re looking forward to the next chapter of this journey and continuing to deepen our understanding of the story and its powerful lessons.
