In November 2020 NAIDOC was celebrated all around Australia, although this year it was a little different due to the Covid pandemic.
We at the storylines team asked a few people about the NAIDOC theme ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’ and what it means to them. Check out the video to see what Aunty Lesley Townsend, Larissa Cook, Lyn Brown, and Ricky Walsh think.
What ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’ means to us
Our Country. Our Land. Mother Earth. Our Beliefs. Our Ancestors. Our Cultures. Who you are. Being Proud. Elders. Saving our Land. Protecting and honouring our land and water. Family and Children. Everyone coming together to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures.
Thank you to Aunty Lesley, Larissa, Lyn, and Ricky.
NAIDOC originally stood for the ‘National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee’.
